The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. It is working to create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and Nepal and is dedicated for changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust through UK Qualifications, sharing UK and Nepal expertise and by creating employment opportunities for Nepali citizens.

To support educational opportunities and access to UK qualifications, British Council is giving easy access to IELTS by

1. Partnering with Nabil Bank to launch an IELTS payment solution from prime cities in Nepal

2. Opening a new IELTS test location – Nepaljung. This is our sixth city to bring the test to IELTS customers, in addition to our existing locations in Biratnaga, Chitwan, Butwal, Pokhara and Kathmandu

3. Providing a new monthly IELTS Award Scheme open to all IELTS takers from June onwards. Everyone who registers for the test is eligible for an award with a value of NPR 100,000 and via Facebook we are giving all customers the chance to decide exactly how the winner is selected

4. Organising a UK Higher Education study tour to promote links between UK Universities and the Nepal education sector/private enterprise

Now in partnership with Nabil Bank, British Council IELTS Exam takers can pay at any Nabil Bank branch in our six exams locations (new location Nepalgunj plus Biratnagra, Chitwan, Butwal, and Pokhara) starting from 15 June. Then from 18 June IELTS customers can pay for their test in Kathmandu and any other city listed above. IELTS exam takers do not need to come to the British Council Office for payment. They can register online and confirm their seat by making a payment at any Nabil Counter before sending us their payment details from the bank deposit slip. This new facility adds to the options available to IELTS customers, who can still choose to register at the British Council premises if they wish or via our registration partners/centres in each test location.

Country Exams Manager Jim O’Neill shares “We look forward to bringing IELTS to new customers in Nepalgunj and surrounding areas. This will make access to the test easier for people in the Western Region. Our partners in the area are also ready to help by providing a registration service as well as consultation on visa processes and test preparation. We will share information on these opportunities regularly via our website and social media”

As per the MoU, all IELTS candidate in Nepal now can pay their IELTS registration fees at Nabil Bank's counters in any of the test locations of British Council Nepal across the country.

Educational Consultancies Association of Nepal (ECAN) is a valued partner for British Council and we work together to enable access to education opportunities for Nepali nationals. The 2017 UK Higher Education (HE) tour will further enable ECAN to develop links between UK HE institutes and Nepal education sector/potential students. UK HE sector are increasingly looking for new market opportunities. By organising this tour the British Council is taking another step to promote Nepal’s potential for Trans-National Education, where UK curriculum and UK-accreditation is offered to Nepal students in collaboration with local education providers. In this way British Council Nepal also demonstrates its commitment to its partners and in future will look to extend this type of opportunity to other valued partners.

British Council Country Director, Dr. Jovan Ilic shares “We have been delivering examination services for many years, and by offering Nepali citizens the opportunity to receive an internationally accredited certificate of achievement we enable them to access work and study opportunities in Nepal abroad. This is an essential service which we are proud to offer. We are continuing to invest in the Examinations Services Department in order to make improvements to what we do. This investment has led to zero waiting lists for an IELTS session and to test dates that are open up to six months in advance. The customer experience is central to how we operate in the field of examinations”.
