The Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal is set to hold the sixth ECAN Educational Fair at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall in Kathmandu from June 28 to July 1. Presented by Kantipur Publications, the event will be managed by One Up Communication Pvt Ltd.

The fair will provide career counselling and information about national and international educational institutions. The largest educational fair in the country is targeted at students aspiring to study abroad and their parents. According to the organisers, the fair will see participation of education consultancies, diplomatic missions and agencies, national and foreign colleges and universities showcasing their products and services. “The event will provide a good platform for students and their parents to get right and relevant information on the available academic degrees in and outside the country, making it easier for them to choose from a wide array of study destinations,” said ECAN Vice-chairman and fair coordinator Bishnu Hari Panday.

The event intends to act as a forum to bring together Nepali consultants where they can interact with students, parents and international academic institutions. It can also assist policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders concerned with recent developments in higher studies abroad, the organiser says.

ECAN counsellors will advise visitors on study courses available in the US, the UK, Australia, Germany, India, Ireland, Switzerland, the Philippines, China and other countries. Also, students can obtain information about preparatory classes, bridge courses and scholarship schemes offered by colleges and universities abroad. “The fair will help them learn about current channels adopted in Nepal for studying abroad, application procedures, the academic atmosphere in foreign nations and their educational system and rules and regulations,” said ECAN President Rajendra Baral. The organiser, for the first time, has announced to provide scholarships to students from marginalised communities in national and international colleges.

More than 100,000 visitors are expected to visit the 6th ECAN Educational Fair 2011.
