Kathmandu University School of Science, Department of Biotechnology offers in M.Tech Biotechnology program. 

M.Tech in Biotechnology program of Kathmandu University aims to fulfill the acute shortage of competent biotechnologists in the national bio-industries and allied areas with a mission to cater and supply a steady stream of highly competent biotechnology graduates required for the country. 

Eligibility

Students who have completed 4 years undergraduate programs in Biotechnology, Agricultural Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Pharmacy , Biochemistry and Veterinary Science and other relevant degrees with minimum 60 % in aggregate or 2.5 CGPA are eligible to apply.

Students, who have completed 3 years undergraduate programs with minimum 60 % in aggregate or 2.5 CGPA, will have to undertake 1 year bridge course, in Biotechnology, to be conducted by the Department.

A career in biotechnology is not just a job; it is an invitation to participate in the development of new products and processes that also contribute to improving peoples standards of living. Major avenues of career development for M. Tech Biotechnology graduates are as follows:

  1. Research and development in processing of diverse biological materials.
  2. Managing bio-industries.
  3. Employment opportunities are available in the industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and plant & animal biotechnology. Other options are available in forensics, disease and diagnostic therapy, education and environmental protection bodies.
