  • The Degree awarded is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MBBS. MBBS is an undergraduate course. It is a five and a half year long course which includes one year of internship.

     The KUMS MBBS program has been divided into three parts: the first two years of study consists of basic medical sciences. These years also include an introduction to clinical sciences. Over the next two and half years, students learn the principles and skills of clinical medicine by rotating through various medical specialties. The final one year consists of internship


    The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery is a four and a half year integrated program followed by a compulsory internship training of one year. The standards and criteria adopted in strict adherence to the requirements of Nepal Medical Council and Kathmandu University. 

     

    Completed 10+2 years of education or equivalent with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and not less than 50% of marks in each subjects of Physics, Chemistry and, Biology (PCB).

    Completed Bachelor of Science Degree, recognized by the University, with one of the following subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and at least one other prescribed science subject of study up to the ancillary level and having scored not less than an overall aggregate of 50% marks, provided that such candidate shall have passed the earlier qualifying examination (10+2 or an equivalent examination) with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

    Completed requisite course equivalent to I. Sc. (Biological Group) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, as main subjects after Certificate Level in Health Sciences from Dhulikhel Medical Institute,
    Kathmandu University and having minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and not less than 50% of marks in each subjects of Physics, Chemistry and, Biology (PCB).

    Application Form Submission Process and Deadline

    The applicant must download the application form from www.ku.edu.np or www.dhulikhelhospital.org and submit completed application form to any one of the following colleges/address along with the photocopies of the mark sheet of S.L.C. and transcript of 10+2 or equivalent examinations, character certificate, citizenship certificate and bank voucher worth NRs.2,500/- (non-refundable) of Nepal Investment Bank, deposited in the name of KUSMS Saving Account Number: 005 8261140 (cash is not acceptable) during office days from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM on or before August 5 , 2012.

    KUMET- 2012 will be held in the following institutions.

    1. Kathmandu University, School of Medical Sciences, Kavre
    2. Kathmandu Medical College, Duwakot
    3. Nepal Medical College, Jorpati, Kathmandu
    4. Kantipur Dental College,Basundhara, Kathmandu

    Entrance Test: Date, Time and Venue

    Date: August 11, 2012, Saturday
    Time: 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
    Venue: As indicated in the Admit Card

    Admit Card issue date: August 9 and 10 (During 10:00 AM to 2:30) from the same institution/address, where the application form is submitted.

    The Curriculum
    Entrance Test for MBBS will be conducted as per the curriculum for MBBS Entrance Examination published by the Ministry of Education. Copy of the curriculum along with the model questions is printed, published and marketed by Janak Education Materials Centre Ltd., Sanothimi, Bhaktapur.

    Modality of Admission
    Applicant who have successfully passed KUMET and meet the above mentioned eligibility criteria can take admission in any medical institution under Kathmandu University.

    Admission will be made on the basis of performance in the Entrance Test followed by interview. Interview will be taken by the concerned institution.

    Note: Those candidates whose form is rejected and the admit card for KUMET is not issued are entitled for refund of NRs. Rs. 2000 only from Dean's office, Dhulikhel..

    Note: Students who have passed first year of 10+2 or equivalent examinations and awaiting the results of class 12 can also apply on provisional basis.
