Other Important Information:
In case of those candidates who have passed the qualifying examination without appearing in one or more of the essential subject(s), viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, but passed that/those subject(s) at a subsequent or re-examination, the marks actually scored by them in the subject(s) at the subsequent examination will be considered for calculating the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination.
Examination Fee: Non refundable examination fee should be paid in the form of bank draft or bank voucher at the time of submitting the application form.
For Nepali Nationals:

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
Entrance Examination is common for all schemes of MBBS and BDS programs. It will be conducted by BPKIHS in different centres of Dharan and Biratnagar. The confirmed centre of examination will be indicated in the Admit Card.
a) Structure of The Examination
The Entrance Examination for all schemes comprises of multiple choice questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Introduction to Health, Aptitude for Medicine/Dentistry and General Knowledge.
The Entrance Examination will be of 3½ hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. The language of the question paper will be English. The distribution of marks will be as follows:

The general standard of the Entrance Examination will be that of the Intermediate Science, 12th class under the 10+2 system or an equivalent examination of Higher Secondary Council. No syllabus for the examination has been specifically prescribed by BPKIHS.
4. Students not paying fees along with the mess charges on time will not be allowed to sit in the annual examination. Admit card for such students will not be issued.
5. All fees under FTFS should be paid annually. In case of failure to pay the fees in time, the Registrar may impose such penalty, as he/she considers appropriate.
6. Students of all schemes who have to repeat the academic year due to failure or any disciplinary action should pay fees as follows:
a. Tuition Fee: 15% of the total tuition fee
b. All other fees: 100% as mentioned in the prospectus.
7. Other equipment/tools etc. as required have to be bought by all candidates themselves.
8. Hostel accommodation will be on sharing basis.

Admission either in HSTFS or FTFS seats will be based entirely on merit as judged through Entrance Examination comprising of multiple choice questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, General Knowledge and Aptitude for the specialty.
The Entrance Examination will be of 3½ hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective- type questions. The language of the question paper will be English. The distribution of marks will be as follows:
10+2/I. Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English) - 100
(25 marks from each subject)
Health/Laboratory Sciences - 100
Entrance examination will be common for candidates with science and Medical Laboratory Science background. FEES AND EXPENSES
Each candidate selected for admission shall have to pay the following fees and dues immediately after the announcement of the list of selected candidates, and after they are declared medically fit by the Medical Board, failing which his/her admission shall be cancelled and the candidate on the waiting list shall be admitted in his/her place in the respective programs.
(a) Under Heavily Subsidized Tuition Fee Scheme (HSTFS) MBBS Program BDS Program

The first year tuition fee should be paid at the time of admission and others should be paid annually. All other fees and charges will remain same as specified above under heavily subsidized tuition fee scheme (HSTFS). The date of payment of fees is fixed. No extension in the date is allowed.
(c) Under Full Tuition Fee Scheme (FTFS-only for SAARC/Non-SAARC students):
i. Tuition Fee:
The total tuition fees for the course period for candidate from the SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal) for MBBS program is US $ 71,500. Likewise, tuition fee for Non-SAARC candidates for MBBS program is US $ 82,500 . The fees should be paid annually as follows:

Special Offer:
1. If a student from the SAARC & Non- SAARC Countries opts to pay the entire tuition fee and other charges at the time of admission, a one time rebate of US $ 12,000 & if 50% of entire fee is paid a one time rebate of US $ 6,000 is given for MBBS Program.
Please note (All Tuition Fee Schemes):
1. The Governing Body of the Institute may change or review the fees and expenses.
2. The fee and other charges including hostel rent, once paid shall not be refunded if a student leaves the Institute for any reason. However, the deposit will be refunded after deducting 25% from it. Similarly, if a student has paid the advance tuition fee-installments and decides to leave the course in between, 25% of the paid amount will be deducted and the rest will be refunded in such cases. Tuition fee of the running installment-period will not be refunded.
3. Tuition fee & Hostel fee can be paid in 3 equal installments, the first being paid at the time of admission and at intervals not exceeding four months thereafter. All other fees should be paid at the time of admission. The last date of payment of fees must be strictly adhered to. No extension is possible unless an exceptional case by prior approval from the Registrar not extending a period of 15 days from the last date with payment of fine Rs. 100/- per day for the 2nd or 3rd installment. For further delay after 15 days the following fine shall be imposed:
For HSTFS Rs. 150/- per day
For PSTFS Rs. 250/- per day
For FTFS Rs. 500/- per day
For further default, the Registrar's decision is final.
4. Students not paying fees along with the mess charges on time will not be allowed to sit in the annual examination. Admit card for such students will not be issued.
5. Tuition Fee under PSTFS and all fees under FTFS should be paid annually. In case of failure to pay the fees in time, the Registrar may impose such penalty, as he/she considers appropriate.
6. Students of all schemes who have to repeat the academic year due to failure or any disciplinary action should pay fees as follows:
a. Tuition Fee: 15% of the total tuition fee
b. All other fees: 100% as mentioned in the prospectus
Internship Program
Students, who have passed the Fifth Year Final Assessment, have to undergo one year Community Oriented Compulsory Residential Rotatory Internship Program (COCRRIP) at BPKIHS and its Teaching District Hospitals. This is mandatory. The degree will not be awarded in case of failure to comply with this rule.
At present, the Internship Program consists of six months posting at BPKIHS teaching hospital and remaining six months at teaching district hospitals including 4 weeks elective posting with adequate facilities under supervision. While posted at district level hospitals, the interns will be given ample opportunities to work in the community.
The Internship Program will begin with an "ORIENTATION PROGRAM". Several important aspects of medical ethics, communication skills, techniques of sample collection for investigations, rational drug prescription, operation theater protocol, medico-legal aspects, health research methodology etc. would be covered during the orientation program.
The progress of the intern throughout the program will be monitored through a structured log book. The interns are required to maintain and update the log-book on a day-to-day-basis, and get the entries verified by the supervisor. The log-book will be used to evaluate the overall performance of the intern.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates who:
i. have passed I.Sc., class XII examination of the 10+2 system, or its equivalent Higher Secondary Council, with Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and English as their major subjects and obtained at least 50% marks in the aggregate in these subjects; and
ii. are at least 17 years of age by the last date of submission of application are eligible to apply in the MBBS and/or BDS courses.
Note: For Nepali Candidates applying under FTFS (Non-SAARC) Category: Those residing in Non-SAARC Countries and who have fulfilled Criteria-(i) as above from the same country are eligible.
Eligibility for reserved seats under HSTFS:
a. Hill District Category:
Candidates from the following selected hill districts and who have studied and passed class 8, 9 and 10 from public schools situated in these districts are eligible for hill district category seats.
Selected Hill Districts:
Bajhang, Bajura, Darchula, Dolpa, Humla, Jajarkot, Jumla, Kalikot, Manang, Mugu, Mustang, Rukum, Solukhumbu.
b. Criteria for Dalit Group:
Candidates from Dalit Group as listed in "Hill Tribes and Terai Tribes" by the National Dalit's Commission, Government of Nepal are eligible for the seat allotted to this group.
c. Criteria for Indigenous Nationalities (Janajati):
Indigenous Nationalities (Janajati) as defined by Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) are as follows:

In the Women Category, female candidates meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply.

Candidates must be the residents of one of the following districts and must have passed class 8, 9 and 10 from public schools situated in these districts.

e. Ward of BPKIHS Faculty and Staff: Eligibility Criteria
Seats for the ward of BPKIHS Faculty and Staff are for son or daughter of Nepali Faculty/Staff (Permanent), who have continuously served the BPKIHS for at least 3 years and are presently serving the institute. The selection of candidates in these seats will also be on the basis of merit of the Entrance Examination. After the selection of the ward, the faculty/ staff has to continue his/her services at least for further 4 years 8
provided the Institute requires his/her services (service bond should be signed). Failure to comply with this rule, shall lead to the ward of the faculty/ staff to pay tuition fee as applicable for Partially Subsidized Tuition Fee Scheme.
Note: Janajati/Dalit/Hill District category candidates- A copy of certificate issued by the Commission as well as a verification certificate from the district administration authority of concerned district must be attached with the application. A certified letter from concerned district education administration is a must for the Public School from where the candidate studied classes 8, 9 & 10.
