  • Fast growing Information Technology and Communication Systems have become critical components of almost every company’s strategic plan. Companies who want to take advantage of the new Information Technologies and Communication Systems require expert professionals who can apply computer science principles to solve problems produced by the interface between business and technology. This is an undergraduate program where students are exposed to various areas of computer applications including the latest developments keeping pace with the industry. 


    The first and second semester of the course consist of basics of computer and communication technology. During the third and fourth semesters students will develop programming, analytical and software management skills. The fifth and sixth semesters will impart the knowledge of operating systems, networking, PC components, and Artificial intelligence.

    Objectives

    Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge in key areas of computer science or industrial computing.
    Be able to demonstrate a substantial understanding of concepts in key areas of computer science.
    Be able to carry out the required analysis and synthesis involved in computer systems, information systems and computing applications.

    Demonstrate professional competence in developing software and in its design and implementation.
    Be able to demonstrate sound practical skills to enable them to address problems which arise from computing systems and applications.

    Duration & Eligibility

    The duration of Bachelor of Computer Application is of three years( 6 semesters). Candidate having qualification as 10+2 (Any Discipline) or equivalent can apply for this course. There are Lateral Entry Schemes are available in BCA.

    Examination

    Examination will be conducted as per the schedule declared by University after every semester in the month of June/July and December/January. Examinations are being conducted at Kendriya Vidhalaya,Indian Embassy premises, Kathmandu. Examination will consist of Internal Assessment (30%) and Theory examinations (70%) as per the university guidelines. For passing the examination minimum 35% marks must be scored in each passing head individually. For passing the semester, the aggregate must be 40% in theory and Internal Assessment groups separately.

    The range of careers in IT is immense. Some are creative and some are highly technical. Much of the work involves thinking or problem-solving. The careers opportunities can be broadly categorized under computer programmers, software developers/entrepreneurs/engineers, web designers/developers, business/system analysts, system operators, training professionals, customer/help desk support, technicians, and sales professionals.
