In order to make legal education compatible with changed national and international context, Tribhuvan University, Faculty of law has introduced five years (BALLB) courses from 2010. The course basically aims to enrich law students with comprehensive theoritical and practical knowledge in indigenous as well as foreign legal traditions, lawyering skills, and research to meet the challenges of the age.
Nepal Law Campus has a five year B.A.LL.B. Programme. This programme is conducted in full fees scheme as self sustained programme. The language of instruction and examination is exclusively English. This is a complete and full time five years course. Students must be dedicated & be regular in whole five years course and must be presented in each class. Minimum 80 % attendance is must to attain the final exam. Classes will be conducted in day time. A teaching period is of 1 hour for each subject. The number of classes shall be of 4 hours for 100 marks and 2 hours for 50 marks subjects per week.
Teaching strategies consist of lecture, case study, discussion, question-answer, problem solving, research, seminar, workshop, tutorial and self-study. The important feature of teaching include inter-disciplinary approaches, participatory and instructional materials include power point, overhead projector, white board, note books, teaching guides, case materials etc as required. Annual examination system is applied for this programme.
Objective of the program

Eligibility Criteria to Study BALLB
Candidates who have completed Higher Secondary Level Education (10+2), PCL or equivalent level are eligible to appear in entrance examination. A candidate passing the entrance exam shall be eligible for admission on the basis of marks obtained in entrance and percentage obtained in higher secondary level or its equivalent level. The total marks shall be 200 and out of which 100 marks alloted for entrance exam and 100 marks reserved for percentage obtained in the higher secondary level (10+2) or equivalence.
70 seats are available comprising 35 students in each section. Eleven seats in each section, like two for woman, two for Indigenous/Janjati group, two for Madheshi, one for Dalit, one for disable, one for backward area and two for foreigner are reserved only for admission purpose. Any type of economic privilege is not available among those students who are eligible for admission in such reserved seats.
After completion of this BALLB Course student may develop their career as jurist, judge, lawyer, law teacher, researcher, legal adviser, counsellor, ADR expert, judicial and civil service, social and development activist, human right defender and so on.
The admission of a five year B.A.LL.B. programme opens generally with other bachelor programmes of the Tribhuvan University. Students seeking admission to this programme can apply while the Faculty announces for admission. Applicants seeking admission should face entrance exam except foreigners. The language of entrance exam is either English or Nepali. The general outline for entrance exam is as follows:
1. Introduction of Law and kinds of Law,
2. Importance and role of Law in Society,
3. Sources of Law- Custom, Legislation, Precedent
4. General introduction of Constitution,
5. Fundamental Rights,
6. An essay on any above subjects,
7. English- Paragraph/comprehensive question answer,
8. Summary writing- English and Nepali
9. Translation- English-Nepali-English and
10.Interview
Out of 200 full marks, 100 marks allocated for + 2 or equivalent and 100 marks for entrance exam for the admission purposes to this programme. Only those students are considered eligible for admission who secured minimum 45 percent in aggregate and at least 35 percent in entrance exam on the merit basis. If any seat is vacant, merit listed students will be admitted in such vacant seat.
