Bachelor of Electrical Engineering is a four years program offered by Purbanchal University. Electrical Engineering deals with the area concerned with electrical signal and power. Various areas of Electrical Engineering are: power electronics, communication and signal processing, solid state device, electromagnetic, digital system, control.

Students in electrical engineering programs gain the skills needed to design and analyze systems or products that use or create electric power. Aspiring electrical engineers learn a combination of fundamental engineering theories and practical skills. Most programs include a heavy mathematics component that teaches learners how to make the detailed calculations used in the field. Students also learn to think critically, communicate well with others, and manage projects. Typical courses include differential equations and electrical circuit theory. Participants also take labs that give them experience working with industry-based design tools and hardware.

Eligibility

Must have secured C+ Grade in all subjects in +2 or equivalent

OR

Candidates who have passed (a) higher secondary (10+2 or ISc) examination with a science major (physical or biological group with at least 100 marks of mathematics) with at least second division or Diploma in Engineering from any Board or University recognized by Purbanchal University. Student waiting for their result may apply but they have to submit their transcripts before university registration.

Procedure

Application

The candidates should apply through the application form provided by Purbanchal University for the entrance examination. While submitting the application, the student should submit the following documents:

  • SLC mark sheet/ Character certificate
  • Transcripts and certificates of 10+2or ISc or Diploma in Engineering
  • Citizenship certificate

The application form can be obtained from the respective colleges office.

Written test

Students have to pass the written entrance test conducted by Purbanchal University.

Interview

Once the student pass the written entrance, an interview session will be conducted by the college.

Admission

Students who pass both the written test as well as the interview will be eligible for admission. The admission will be based on the merit basis, performance in the entrance examination and the preference that the students have picked while filling up the entrance form.

Job Prospects

Electrical engineers are employed in various sectors such as Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), communication sector, large scale industries, manufacturing plants, hydropower sector, design industries, production plants, educational and research institutions.

As Nepal has huge potential of hydropower which is yet to be harnessed, both civil and electrical engineers are required in large numbers. However, the degree also prepares individuals to work in many other areas of engineering, including aerospace engineering, computer hardware engineering, and biomedical engineering. Some professionals who hold extensive experience can pursue work as engineering managers, taking on a supervisory role to lead a teams of engineers.
