The Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) at Pokhara University is a professional five-year undergraduate degree spread across ten semesters. Administered under the Faculty of Science and Technology, the program is specifically designed to transform creative minds into professional, licensed architects. The curriculum balances fundamental architectural theories with practical engineering skills.
B.Arch program of Pokhara University aims to provide systematic knowledge and skills in the planning, design and conservation of buildings and other physical artifacts with concerns for aesthetics, comfort, durability, social responsiveness and integration with natural and man made landscapes. The area of instruction covers spectrum of courses relating to planning, structural design, landscape management, interior design and furnishing and conservation and restoration of application of electronic devices and their applications in arrays of communication applications.
As a student, you will learn to navigate the design process from scratch; starting with small-scale, single-function spaces and progressing to highly complex, multi-functional, and multidisciplinary urban projects. The entire program is conducted strictly in English, ensuring you develop the necessary verbal, textual, and graphical communication skills to pitch, defend, and manage your designs globally. The maximum duration of the program is 10 years.
Eligibility
To apply for the B. Arch. program, you must meet the following academic baseline set by the University:
- The candidates should have completed Class 12 examination of NEB or equivalent level from a recognized academic institution.
- The candidates should have studied at least one course (having at least 100 full marks or 5 credits) each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- The candidates should have scored a minimum of 45% or a CGPA/GPA of 2.0 (in a scale of 4.0) and at least Grade C (in case of A-level, at least Grade D) or 45% in each subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).
The minimum criterion of Grade C (in case of A level, Grade D) or 45% does not apply to other courses or extra courses, if any. Candidates should have studied mathematics of at least 100 marks in Class 11 or class 12 examination of NEB or equivalent level.
Alternative Diploma Route: Students holding a Diploma in Engineering or Architecture from a recognized institution are also eligible, provided they secured at least Second Division marks.
Admission Criteria
Meeting the eligibility criteria grants you the right to apply, but final selection is strictly merit-based.
The Entrance Examination
You must pass a competitive entrance exam conducted by the respective university school or college. The evaluation weights your knowledge across the following subjects:
- Mathematics: 40%
- English: 20%
- Physics: 15%
- Chemistry: 15%
- Aptitude Test: 10%
Note: If a college conducts the entrance process without the Chemistry section, the weight for the Architecture Aptitude Test scales up to 25%. The institution may also conduct a personal interview for final selection.
Provision for Foreign Students
International students have a dedicated pathway, with up to 20% of the total seats reserved for them based on an admission interview.

- Basic Foundational Knowledge (20%): Early training in Basic Design, Freehand Sketching, Drafting, Graphics, Mathematics, and Statics/Dynamics.
