The establishment of Tri-Chandra College built the base for higher education in the country. Following the foundation laid by Tri-Chandra, colleges were established within and outside the Kathmandu Valley. With these developments, people had access to higher education in Nepal and marked the beginning of the expansion of higher education in Nepal.

Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus situated at the heart of Kathmandu is the eldest academic institution of Nepal in the context of higher education. It was established in 1918 A.D.(1975 B.S.) and is popular in society as "Tri-Chandra College".
Tri Chandra Campus (TC) offers different Bachelors, Post Graduate Diploma and Masters level program in Science and Humanities under Tribhuvan University. In Bachelor level, it offers Bachelor of Arts in different subjects, B.Sc in Microbiology, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Meteorology, Environmental Science and Geology. It also offers PG Diploma in Counseling Psychology, M.Sc Microbiology, M.Sc Chemistry, and M.Sc Engineering Geology, MA Economics, MA Nepali, MA Anthropology, MA Rural Development, MA Sociology, MA Economics and MA Psychology programs.
The current name comes from a combination of two words, Tribhuvan from Late King Tribhuvan and Chandra from Late Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher. The college was established as Tribhuvan Chandra Intermediate College and later renamed to its current name. Before democracy, the campus was only for the few elites from Rana Regime but with the dawn of democracy in the country in 2007 B.S, the campus became accessible to the general public as well. Since then the Campus has adequately contributed to the nation through the production of skillful manpower.
