    St. Xaviers College

Welcome to St. Xavier’s College. A Jesuit institution of higher education, St. Xavier’s College was founded in 1988 with the mission of forming men and women who are academically excellent, morally upright and socially responsible. Since its genesis, the college has been instrumental in instilling values of excellence, leadership and service in the students who sojourned in its portals.

You will find that St. Xavier’s is an active and welcoming community of students, faculty, staff and Jesuits. While we offer an academically rigorous education in arts and sciences, and business and information technology, we are emphatically dedicated to the moral, personal and professional growth of each member of St. Xavier’s family. It’s where students, faculty and staff thrive in a supportive community committed to universal human values exercised in Jesuit traditions. And, it’s where students learn to become leaders through service to others.

The Jesuit spirit of MAGIS, the theme for the academic year 2016-17, permeates all our activities here. Literally explained as Being More and Doing More, it is the spirit of magis that drives the college family to give their all and more in forming men and women for and with others, citizens who find meaning in sharing gifts, pursuing justice and having concern for the poor and marginalized.

For St. Xavier’s living magis-ly involves expanding the hearts of SXC family to care for everyone who comes to its home as a child of God. The spirit of magis enables SXC to develop the whole person, integrating all aspects of a student’s life. It is the same spirit that ennobles everyone at St. Xavier’s to transform themselves into agents of change, emulating behaviors that reflect critical thought and responsible action on moral and ethical issues.

I invite everyone associated with St. Xavier’s to live out magis in their lives especially this year. Faculty members, conduct research to enhance teaching, to contribute to the betterment of society, and to discover new knowledge. Students, develop critical and creative thinking and acquire ethical perspectives for dealing with an increasingly complex world. Parents and friends, walk that extra mile this year to uphold the Xavierian values in your personal and professional lives. Like a famous scholar St. Jerome wrote, let us remember that

    “Good, better, best

    Never let it rest

    Till your good is better

    And your better is best.”

I look forward to living the magis with you.
