Sallaghari, Bhaktapur

ABOUT

Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur (SAMB) operates under the auspices of the Nepali Army Welfare Fund, guided by the divine motto "Gyanena Paramo Sewa" which means that imparting knowledge is the greatest service. SAMB has a proud history dating back to 2035 B.S. At that time, it was known as Suping Multiple Campus and was established in Bhimphedi, Makawanpur as a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University, jointly funded by the Nepali Army and Tribhuvan University. In Chaitra 2042, the campus was moved to Sallaghari, Bhaktapur, and began operating under the name Birendra Sainik Mahavidyalaya/Campus with affiliation from Tribhuvan University. From 14th Poush, 2043 B.S., the Mahavidyalaya has been solely under the auspices of the Nepali Army. In Shrawan 2067, the name was changed slightly from Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya (BSAMV) to the present name, Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur (SAMB).

With the goal of providing modern and high-quality education to both children of Nepali Army personnel and civilians, the Mahavidyalaya expanded its offerings to include school-level education from Grade IV, with the support of the government. Originally offering education exclusively to male students, the Mahavidyalaya introduced co-education to both the campus and school in 2046 B.S. and 2047 B.S., respectively. In 2060 B.S., the Mahavidyalaya obtained affiliation from the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) to offer the Management Faculty. In 2066 B.S., the Mahavidyalaya began offering Humanities, Science, and Management faculties and has done so smoothly ever since. To date, 26 batches of students have completed their SLC/SEE from the Mahavidyalaya. Furthermore, in 2077 B.S., the Mahavidyalaya added two sections of Management and one section of Science for day scholars in the morning shift. Over time, the Mahavidyalaya has also obtained affiliation from Tribhuvan University to offer B.Sc. in 2069 B.S. and BBA in 2070 B.S., and has been efficiently administering these Bachelor's programmes ever since.

The students have consistently pursued academic excellence, achieving exceptional results in the Board Exams of SLC/SEE, HSEB/NEB, and TU. Ther current standing of the school is a testament to their past accomplishments. The small seedling that was planted in 2035 B.S. has flourished into a robust tree, disseminating knowledge throughout the region. This long-term vision has inspired countless students, providing them with the necessary motivation to achieve success and accomplish their goals.

Vision

To establish the Mahavidyalaya as the Centre of Excellence.
