Infrastructure and Student Services
Classrooms at Thames are designed to meet both the educational need of the course and comfort of the students and faculty. Classrooms are audio-visual equipped with access to high-speed internet. All the class rooms are furnished with the comfortable chairs and desks and are suitable for adult students. The College currently has 16 classrooms.
Meeting Rooms & Group Study Rooms
Besides classrooms, the college has 4 meeting rooms and 2 group study rooms to facilitate small class sizes. These rooms are used for small class sizes, tutorial classes and group works.
David J. Rusk Library
David J. Rusk Library has the most comfortable setting in the campus. With more than 6,000 titles, the library is fully catalogued and automated. Students can also remotely access the library from home. International newspapers and periodicals including International Herald Tribune, Harvard Business Review and The Economists are also available in the library. Recently, the library has also launched an online digital repository to share electronic data online and to promote the culture of research.
Thames Library offers dedicated space for laptop use, group work, as well as a silent study area for independent learning. The Group Study Room in the library is available for collaborative activities such as presentation preparation.
The Internet Stations at Thames is also housed at the David J. Rusk Library. All the pcs are networked, runs Microsoft Office and provides high speed internet access and other networked resources.
The Information Technology Centre
The IT Centre at Thames is a state of the art computing facility equipped with more than 40 open access work stations. The IT Centre is open 6 day s a week from 7:00 am – 5:00pm. The Internet Stations in the library is also operated by the IT Centre.
The college campus is fully Wi fi enabled. Students can access high speed internet from all corners of the campus, be it cafeteria, class rooms, library or the parking lot.
Thames College Cafeteria offers a wide selection of dishes. The menu changes every day and caters for a variety of diets. Open from early in the morning until late in the afternoon, the cafeteria is a popular choice for meals and as a meeting point for students.
Situated at the top floor of the college building, the auditorium is one of the busiest venues on campus. The auditorium with the capacity of the 120 people has a small stage, a podium and is audio-visually equipped. The auditorium also has a terrace outside to hold after event tea parties and networking events.
The auditorium is also a famous venue for NGOs , INGOs and the local bodies to hold workshops and conferences. The venue hosts many college level events including Thames Inter College Corporate Quiz, AMS Speaker Series and Word Mill.
The sports facility at Thames is limited by its space. However, the campus has a basket ball, table tennis and badminton facility. The college also rents professional sports venues around Kathmandu to hold sporting events. The college is also a proud organizer of Thames Inter- College Cricket which has more than 15 participating college teams from the around the nation every year.
The college has a designated parking lot that can accommodate more than 150 motor bikes and scooters at any point of time.
Student Council and Clubs
Student Council of Thames International College provides an integrated experience for students across the campus and offers a variety of clubs and organizations to enrich college life. Students also have the ability to enhance their academic program through representation in student councils.
Workshops and Guest Speakers
Besides regular classes, we organize training workshops on various issues and invite guest speakers to share their experiences. As guest speakers, we invite the brightest minds from a wide range of industries and backgrounds to share path breaking trends and sage professional advice.
Internships are integrated part of the academic programs offered at Thames. Students can earn course credit through internship.
Internship is an excellent way to extend and test classroom learning and to explore a career interest. They also provide an opportunity to gain real job experience and expand their professional network that can help our students to stand out in the job market.
Thames International college comprises of two schools, School of Business and Technology and School of Social Sciences. School of Business and Technology currently offers Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor in Information Management (BIM) while the School of Social Sciences offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social Work and Rural Development.
The admission of freshmen and transfer at Thames is taken care of by the Admissions Office. Students sit for the counseling sessions or open seminars at Thames before they collect the application form from the front desk at the college so that they understand the values and working modality at Thames. After turning in the applications, they sit for an aptitude quiz.
Students are evaluated on the basis of their performance at SLC, class 11, involvement in ECAs at school and 10+2 and their performance in the aptitude quiz. Shortlisted candidates are called for interviews. Selected candidates are provided with offer letters from the Admissions Office at Thames International College and students with offer letter can get admitted by submitting the required documents.
Thames international college recognizes the academic achievements of its students through its scholarship award programs. Each year, the college commits significant institutional resources for grants and scholarships to assist students. There are basically two kinds of scholarship at Thames:
Chairman’s Scholarship Award
The chairman’s scholarship is a comprehensive award for outstanding newcomers who enroll in one of the undergraduate programs offered at Thames. The scholarship is renewable every semester. This is the highest academic award given to any student at Thames. Interested students should fill up the scholarship form and attach it with the application form. Scholarship forms are available at the college front desk.
Need based scholarship Award
Need based scholarship is awarded to the incoming students who are academically strong but require financial assistance to pay for her/his tuition and fees. Needy students should fill up the scholarship form available at the front desk and attach it with the application form.
The faculty members at Thames International College bring their real world experiences and prepare students with adequate knowledge, attitude and skills needed not only for exams but for real life challenges. Thames is proud of its team of experienced and dedicated faculty who are committed to bringing positive changes in the students.
Besides, Thames has also been running the student tutorship program where the students with a command over a certain subject help fellow students with the problems they face in that particular subject. Thames also has program coordinators for each of their programs who are constantly working on making the programs better.
