International School of Tourism and Hotel Management (IST) was established in the year 2003 with an objective to produce world class human resources to cater to the overwhelming need of the hospitality industry by offering various academic degrees and training packages as per the international standard.

Affiliated to Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (FHS), Austria,IST aims at developing practical, managerial and excellent communication skills by providing each individual student with the know how of a successful career in hospitality industry. It is a center for excellence in hospitality education providing an enterprising and stimulating environment in which students can learn and develop their full potential. The structure of the academic program achieves this by combining management theory with practical experiences ensuring an international approach to teaching.

Various programs offered by IST is approved by Ministry of Education and Sports of Nepal Government to conduct different courses ranging from Diploma, Higher Diploma, and Bachelors level courses in hospitality. Since its inception it has established cooperation with numerous universities in Nepal, Singapore, Austria, Australia, United Kingdom and United States of America. Likewise, FHS and Tribhuvan University of Nepal have already entered into the bilateral agreement to promote faculty and student exchange, joint research program and accreditation to each other's degree.

IST is also a suffix, which means a person with deep knowledge,practical exposure and appropriate attitude in the particular discipline.Hence, IST aims to add “ist” to its students and prepare professionals to become leading managers in the various tourism and hospitality outlets.

IST has a very good team of faculty comprising both academicians and working professionals. The contribution of the renowned personalities such as promoters, visiting faculties, flying faculties and visiting entrepreneurs in the past years has provided strengths and values to the school. IST offers customized and fast track programs to provide students maximum flexibility and opportunity for progression. The successful candidates of Diploma program can also pursue their top-up to Higher Diploma, Bachelor (Hons) and Master's Degree subsequently in Nepal as well as in abroad.

IST has strong emphasis on both academic and practical exposure of its students and has established association with few hospitality outlets such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, and event management companies so that the students have access to these outlets in order to develop their practical exposure.
