The Tribhuvan University (TU) has removed the provision of wearing the formal national dress in its convocation ceremony from this year.

With this decision, students participating in the 38th convocation ceremony need not wear the formal national dress. They can wear dress of their choice. The 38th convocation ceremony is to be held in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Officiating exam controller, Ramesh Joshi, said although the provision for wearing the national dress-- Daura Suruwal—and also suit pant for male and sari and blouse for women has been removed, the students attending the convocation ceremony have to wear the Convocation Dress comprising gown and scarf provided by the TU in connection to the convocation.

Joshi said that the students participating in the convocation ceremony should compulsorily wear the gown and scarf provided by TU but they could wear any other dress of their choice.
