The 15th National General Convention of Nepal University Teachers’ Association (NUTA) kicked off today with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai calling on members to refrain from padlocking academic institutions in the name of agitation.
Inaugurating the meet, PM Bhattarai termed the growing tendency among teachers to shut down colleges and universities a ‘cancer’ that will affect education in the long run.
“Instead of setting an example for students to follow, professors are padlocking colleges. This is unfortunate for the academic sector and the whole country,” added Bhattarai.
